Through a series of miscommunication, the League is now under the impression that Batman, strange cryptid that he is, may or may not have given birth to the other vigilantes running around in Gotham. This was not helped by Bruce referring to all of his children, no matter how big they get, as his babies. Nor was it helped by Red Robin, in the middle of a narcolepsy-fueled imminent crash, mentioned how he had no mother. 

It also doesn’t help that no one is aware that they are in fact completely normal people, and not aspects of Gotham itself brought to life. Though really that’s on the bats themselves, because at this point they should at least count as undead.

New oc design! Her name is Porcelain, and she's a sea/sand based on my shower curtain.

I really love the patterns on her and I think they make her look like a fancy dish, hence the name. My friend helped out with the inner wing patterns and honestly I couldn't be happier with them! I think they're so lovely <3333

mudwing tribe redesign (concept art) + notes/doodles below

so um. yea this is like the third time i just really like mudwings OKAY. heres a transcription of my chicken scratch writing + more info

primarily based on water-loving animals- ie crocodiles, alligators, hippos, & komodo dragons

spines running along their backs are somewhat prehensile and help in underwater navigation

scales similar to that of an armadillo; interconnected plates like chainmail (icewings have this as well)

lots of browns/greens/reds + orange/yellow highlights (many mudwings paint decorations/swirls on themselves)

thick tail for splashing around in water & slamming weight down on prey

webbed fingers/spines; are able to breathe underwater (but not for very long)

live both in water and above ground (mostly swamps/rivers/marshes/ponds)

wings not separate from the limbs & don’t enable flying - very high-density and muscled, perfect for flapping and maneuvering waves/water/gliding

very thick & stocky ; one of the largest tribes by bulk/height/size

visible scales on bottom of belly/sensitive areas of hide- very thick skin otherwise

mudwings are a very large interconnected family;; much like clay’s sibling-family, many families are very close and familiar with one another

jewelry is seldom worn (apart from wooden/other natural materials) - decorative designs are far more common and indicate statud

ALMOST FORGOT TO MENTION !! the animation is what i think mudwings would look like while fighting in the water (like ducks !!) - their enormous wings let them flap water around easily & do cool stuff

So the GIW is the Ghost Investigation Ward and not the Ghost Extermination Ward, yes? Hear me out, hm? 

See, it’s really hard to study ecto-entities when they’re going all over in and out of the world. Really hard! And of course they aren’t like, sentient, studies for years before the boom in this one town showed this! But, the overgrown not-birds (they’re still debating that) are really hard to watch doing their natural thing when they naturally mimic people around them! 

So! They got this idea, right? Their operatives can capture some! They’ve even made enclosures based off of what they currently know! It’s like containing crows, down to the mimicry & puzzle solving just er, with opposable thumbs and intangibility. 

And they don’t succeed first tries of course (Wow were said operatives frustrated and maybe cursing a bit that might be a bit violently) but then they get some assistance from the Fentons! Trying to hit an ecto-entities’ wings in a way to not permanently injure them is hard, but the new net canons that a ghost can’t pass through? Perfect! 

They have so many specimens now! They even released a few that were very much uncontainable- they rely on technology a bit and that entity kept unlocking all the doors. So catch and release with that one it is!  

They even managed to catch the white-haired ghost! In double! Which might not seem that important, but! As they realize during intake & initial examination (wow are they bitey) the two appear to be young! Something their ectobiologists only theorized about but oh are they excited! (Now if only the two would stop trying to escape their enclosure that’d be swell! Look, toys! Foo- oh dear God that baby ecto-entity is melting- Oh few, okay note taken to raise ambient ecto levels in that room dear god that was horrifying and stressful. … Maybe get some feelers out for feeding unstable energy entities…)
